H.R. No. 162
R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Chandler Elementary School in the Brownsboro
Independent School District was named a 2012 Blue Ribbon School,
the highest national designation a school can receive; and
WHEREAS, The Blue Ribbon Schools Program was created by the
U.S. Department of Education in 1982; to qualify for nomination,
schools must demonstrate academic superiority within their state or
show dramatic gains in student performance; in 2012, only 16 Blue
Ribbon honorees were selected from more than 8,000 public schools
and charter campuses across the Lone Star State; and
WHEREAS, Previously honored as a Blue Ribbon School in 2004,
Chandler Elementary has been rated exemplary by the Texas Education
Agency for the past four years; the campus has also been listed on
the Texas Business and Educators Coalition honor roll for three
consecutive years, and it has been recognized for its high
performance as a Title I school by its region service center; in
2011, more than 95 percent of Chandler Elementary students passed
the reading and math sections of the Texas Assessment of Knowledge
and Skills; and
WHEREAS, Principal Tina Eaton guides the faculty in fostering
a challenging yet supportive learning environment; with its
collaborative culture, the school enjoys a high teacher retention
rate and benefits from strong partnerships with parents and the
community; and
WHEREAS, Through commitment and hard work, the students,
teachers, and administrators of Chandler Elementary School have
built a record of academic excellence, and their efforts have been
duly recognized with this prestigious accolade; now, therefore, be
it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas
Legislature hereby congratulate Chandler Elementary School on its
selection as a 2012 National Blue Ribbon School; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for Chandler Elementary as an expression of high regard by
the Texas House of Representatives.
