H.R. No. 167 R E S O L U T I O N WHEREAS, Dr. Louis C. Sidney, Sr., the pastor of St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church in Houston, has touched many lives through his dedicated service; and WHEREAS, A native of Houston, Dr. Sidney holds a bachelor's degree in theology from Conroe Normal and Real Bible Seminary and a doctorate in divinity from the Inter-Baptist Theological Center; he was called to the ministry more than three and a half decades ago, and he has pastored St. Paul MBC for 29 years, encouraging several generations of worshippers in their spiritual journeys and contributing immeasurably to the vitality of this dynamic congregation; and WHEREAS, The benevolent influence of this diligent and compassionate spiritual leader extends well beyond his congregation; he has served as dean of the Progressive Peaceful Union District Association, as president of the Houston Police Department Northeast Multicultural Coalition, and as a member of the Northeast Ministers Council and the Northeast Harris County Christian Ministers Alliance; and WHEREAS, Blessed with a fine family, Dr. Sidney draws continuing inspiration from his wife, Darlene Sidney, his 5 children, and his 11 grandchildren; and WHEREAS, Throughout his tenure at St. Paul Missionary Baptist, Dr. Sidney has given tirelessly of his time and talents in behalf of the congregation and its mission, and it is a pleasure to join in recognizing him at this time; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas Legislature hereby commend Dr. Louis C. Sidney, Sr., for nearly three decades of outstanding service to St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church and extend to him sincere appreciation for the leadership that he has provided to both his church and his community; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Dr. Sidney as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
