H.R. No. 1689
R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, The City of Gainesville has received a 2013 Gold
Award from the Texas Comptroller Leadership Circle program; and
WHEREAS, Initiated in December 2009, the program was created
to recognize local governments that are striving to attain
financial transparency online; the award spotlights those that open
their books to the public, provide a clear picture of spending, and
share information in a user-friendly format; and
WHEREAS, The City of Gainesville scored 16 out of a possible
20 points on the Leadership Circle rating sheet, reflecting the
easy access that residents have to information about the city's
finances; and
WHEREAS, Keeping taxpayers informed about how public money is
spent helps to maintain the high level of trust between citizens and
their government that is vital in a free society, and the City of
Gainesville truly merits praise for its efforts in that regard;
now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas
Legislature hereby congratulate the City of Gainesville on its
receipt of a 2013 Gold Leadership Circle Award from the Texas
Comptroller's office and extend sincere best wishes to all those
associated with the city's online project for continued success
with their worthy endeavor; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for the City of Gainesville as an expression of high regard
by the Texas House of Representatives.
