H.R. No. 1692
R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Two teams from the Little Elm Area Youth Sports
Association, the Little Elm Eagles and the Little Elm Red Raiders,
captured state basketball championships at the Texas Amateur
Athletic Federation tournament on March 17, 2013; and
WHEREAS, The Little Elm Eagles, who participated in the
girls' eight and under division, won their first three games by
large margins, as their defense held the opposing teams to a total
of just nine points; in the tournament final, the Eagles bested the
Stephenville Lady Horns in double overtime to claim the
championship; led by Coach Steve Petrasic, the team members who
contributed to this impressive accomplishment included Stephanie
Alvarez, Georgia Heathcock, Gracie Myers, Haleigh Petrasic,
Blessing Saliu, Torie Sevier, Kyndal Stowers, and Emily Trimble;
and
WHEREAS, In the boys' 12 and under division, the Little Elm
Red Raiders secured commanding wins in four consecutive games and
then topped the Haltom City Tarheels in the title game to earn the
coveted state crown; the Red Raiders' lineup included Sterling
Eubanks, Johnatan Guillen, Logan Kohler, Kelly Richardson, Gabriel
Salamanca, Bradley Swenson, and Javian Williams, and the team was
coached by Lavell Hollis; and
WHEREAS, With their inspired performances on the court, the
Little Elm Eagles and Red Raiders realized their goal of becoming
TAAF champions, and the hard work and commitment that they
demonstrated in their tournament triumphs will serve them well in
all of their future endeavors; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas
Legislature hereby congratulate the Little Elm Eagles and the
Little Elm Red Raiders on winning Texas Amateur Athletic Federation
state championships and extend to the teams' players and coaches
sincere best wishes for continued success; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That official copies of this resolution be prepared
for both teams as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of
Representatives.
