H.R. No. 1729
R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Crawford High School basketball players Ann-Marie
Dunlap, Jordyn Villa, and Ellen Whitney have received awards for
their outstanding play on the hardwood during the 2012-2013 season;
and
WHEREAS, Ms. Dunlap and Ms. Whitney, both guards, and
Ms. Villa, a point guard, were all named to the Texas Association of
Basketball Coaches 2A All-Region Team; in addition, Ms. Dunlap
received 2A All-State honors from the TABC and the Texas Girls
Coaches Association; and
WHEREAS, Guided by head coach Brandon Ely, the players were
an important part of a memorable season for the Lady Pirates; the
team claimed the district title and then went on to tally three wins
in the 2A playoffs before falling to Centerville High School in the
regional finals; and
WHEREAS, These talented student-athletes have demonstrated
great dedication and skill, and they are a source of tremendous
pride to their classmates and to the many loyal supporters of the
Lady Pirates basketball team; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas
Legislature hereby congratulate Ann-Marie Dunlap, Jordyn Villa,
and Ellen Whitney on earning prestigious postseason honors for
their exceptional performances on the Crawford High School
basketball team during the 2012-2013 season and extend to them
sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for each of the athletes as an expression of high regard by
the Texas House of Representatives.
