 R E S O L U T I O N
 WHEREAS, A rich and purposeful life drew to a close with the
 passing of Richard Gilbert Cagle of Rosanky, who died on August 26,
 2012, at the age of 74; and
 WHEREAS, Born on March 29, 1938, Bert Cagle earned a degree in
 electrical engineering from the University of Colorado; while
 studying in Boulder, he met the love of his life, Claire Dent, and
 the happy couple married on June 14, 1958; in time they became the
 proud parents of two children, Cathy and "Cactus" Jack; and
 WHEREAS, After graduating from college, Mr. Cagle joined
 Boeing's Aerospace Division and worked initially on the Bomarc
 missile in Seattle, Washington; he subsequently devoted his efforts
 to the space program, and his assignments took him to Huntsville,
 Alabama, then to New Orleans, and finally to Houston, where he was
 involved in the Apollo program; he was stationed in the front bunker
 for the liftoff of Apollo 11 and Apollo 15, and he was a member of
 the team that brought the Apollo 13 astronauts home safely; he also
 worked on the space shuttle program; and
 WHEREAS, Following his retirement, Mr. Cagle moved to the
 Rosanky area, where he raised longhorn cattle for a while and
 enjoyed deer hunting; his other favorite pastimes included building
 model rockets and computers, working on projects around the house,
 and spending time with friends and family, sharing laughs and
 reflections on life; and
 WHEREAS, Longtime members of the Freeway Baptist Church in
 Houston, Mr. Cagle and his wife later joined the Rosanky Baptist
 Church; a valued congregant, Bert Cagle served as a deacon while
 also chairing the finance committee; in addition, he loved singing
 and was a joyful member of the church choir; and
 WHEREAS, Bert Cagle achieved a life that was rich in family,
 friends, and accomplishments, and those who were privileged to
 share in his love and affection will forever carry him close in
 their hearts; now, therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas
 Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Richard Gilbert Cagle
 and extend sincere condolences to the members of his family: to his
 wife, Claire Cagle; to his children, County Commissioner Jack Cagle
 and his wife, Janet, and Cathy Moore and her husband, Dana; to his
 grandchildren, Richard Cagle, Drew Moore, Victoria Cagle, Daniel
 Moore, and Elizabeth Cagle; and to his other relatives and many
 friends; and, be it further
 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
 Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Bert Cagle.
