 R E S O L U T I O N
 WHEREAS, The members of the First United Methodist Church in
 Crowley are celebrating the 120th anniversary of their church's
 founding on October 12, 2013; and
 WHEREAS, Since its inaugural meetings under an old oak tree
 in 1893, First United Methodist Church has benefited from the
 dedicated efforts of a number of outstanding clergy, including the
 Reverend Mary Gean Cope, who leads the congregation today; and
 WHEREAS, United by their shared faith and strong traditions,
 the members of this notable house of worship support a variety of
 commendable programs, including the Crowley House of Hope, which
 provides emergency assistance for local residents; for more than
 five decades, the congregation has hosted the annual Lord's Acre
 Harvest Festival, which enables members of the community to
 contribute to the church by donating proceeds from the sale of
 produce, quilts, and a variety of handcrafted items; and
 WHEREAS, Countless area residents have looked to First United
 Methodist Church for spiritual enrichment and guidance through the
 years, and it is a pleasure to join in honoring the church at this
 special time in its rich history; now, therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas
 Legislature hereby congratulate all those associated with the First
 United Methodist Church of Crowley on its 120th anniversary and
 extend to its members sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it
 further
 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 prepared for the church as an expression of high regard by the Texas
 House of Representatives.
