R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Monica Perez of Dr. Thomas Esparza Elementary
School in Edinburg has been selected as one of five finalists in the
elementary category for the 2013 H-E-B Excellence in Education
Rising Star Award; and
WHEREAS, In cooperation with the Texas Association of School
Administrators, the H-E-B Excellence in Education Awards celebrate
public school professionals whose leadership and commitment
inspire a love of learning in students of all backgrounds and
abilities; and
WHEREAS, The Rising Star Award recognizes an elementary
school teacher and a secondary school teacher from among those in
the state with fewer than 10 years of classroom experience who best
meet the criteria for the honor; each winner receives a $5,000 cash
prize and a $5,000 grant for his or her school; and
WHEREAS, The education of young Texans is of paramount
importance to the future of the Lone Star State, and in her role as a
fifth-grade science teacher, Monica Perez has set a standard of
excellence to which all in her profession may aspire; now,
therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas
Legislature hereby congratulate Monica Perez on her selection as a
2013 H-E-B Excellence in Education Rising Star Award finalist and
extend to her sincere best wishes for continued success with her
important work; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for Ms. Perez as an expression of high regard by the Texas
House of Representatives.
