H.R. No. 1799 R E S O L U T I O N WHEREAS, The UAW International Area Council for Retired Auto Workers of South Texas is celebrating the 25th anniversary of its founding in 2013; and WHEREAS, One of the largest and most diverse unions in North America, the International Union, United Automobile, Aerospace and Agricultural Implement Workers of America represents individuals in virtually every sector of the economy; a solid majority of the organization's retirees stay actively involved in the life of their union, with more than 600,000 members in chapters in the United States, Canada, and Puerto Rico; and WHEREAS, Since its establishment a quarter-century ago, the South Texas council has remained dedicated to assisting affiliates with a number of vital issues, including financial and medical benefit concerns; and WHEREAS, The group supports the UAW mission of securing economic and social justice for all people, and the steadfast efforts of its leadership will continue to make a positive difference in the lives of many South Texas senior citizens; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas Legislature hereby commemorate the 25th anniversary of the founding of the UAW International Area Council for Retired Auto Workers of South Texas and extend to all those associated with the group sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for the council as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
