 R E S O L U T I O N
 WHEREAS, The Memorial Hermann Foundation is hosting its 2013
 Circle of Life Gala on May 11, 2013; and
 WHEREAS, A component of the Memorial Hermann Healthcare
 System, the foundation is honoring civic leaders and
 philanthropists Elizabeth and Gary Petersen at the gala; proceeds
 of the event will benefit the Revolutionizing Neuroscience
 initiative, a $100 million fund-raising campaign undertaken by
 Memorial Hermann-Texas Medical Center and The University of Texas
 Health Science Center at Houston; and
 WHEREAS, Memorial Hermann and UTHealth have partnered for
 more than four decades to provide comprehensive medical care, and
 together, they have launched Revolutionizing Neuroscience to
 advance the field of neuroscience research and clinical care and to
 make the institutions national and international leaders in the
 field; and
 WHEREAS, Today, Memorial Hermann and UTHealth form one of the
 few hospital-medical school collaborations in the United States
 that fully integrate pediatric and adult neurology, neurosurgery,
 and neurorehabilitation; to attain the best patient outcomes, they
 provide a full continuum of state-of-the-art neuroscience research
 and care beginning when a patient arrives in the trauma center and
 continuing through treatment in the acute care facility and
 rehabilitation; and
 WHEREAS, Through its support for this ambitious fund-raising
 drive, the Memorial Hermann Foundation is making a significant
 contribution to the advancement of neuroscience research and
 patient care, and it is a privilege to commend all those associated
 with this event and the cause that it benefits; now, therefore, be
 it
 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas
 Legislature hereby commemorate both the Memorial Hermann
 Foundation 2013 Circle of Life Gala and the Revolutionizing
 Neuroscience initiative and honor Elizabeth and Gary Petersen for
 their efforts in behalf of that worthy cause; and, be it further
 RESOLVED, That official copies of this resolution be prepared
 for Mr. and Mrs. Petersen and for the foundation as an expression of
 high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
