R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, An inspiring couple whose lives have been enhanced
by a great and enduring love, James and Evelyn Benton of Lubbock
celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary on December 27, 2012; and
WHEREAS, Jim Benton and the former Evelyn Juanita Smith were
united in matrimony at a ceremony held at Trinity Baptist Church in
Lubbock in 1952; over the years, they have nurtured a fulfilling
marriage that has been made even richer as their family grew to
include their daughters, Nita Benton and Tina Gibson, and their
son-in-law, Jeff; and
WHEREAS, While innumerable changes have taken place in the
world during the past six decades, this devoted husband and wife
have remained constant in their commitment to each other, and the
strength of their love has enabled them to meet life's challenges
and opportunities with grace and optimism; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas
Legislature hereby congratulate James and Evelyn Benton on their
60th wedding anniversary and extend to them sincere best wishes for
continued happiness; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for Mr. and Mrs. Benton as an expression of high regard by
the Texas House of Representatives.
