H.R. No. 1989 R E S O L U T I O N WHEREAS, Manny Gonzalez has been participating in the 2013 Moreno/Rangel Legislative Leadership Program, and during the 83rd Legislative Session, he has ably served his fellow Texans as an aide in the office of State Representative Rafael Anchia; and WHEREAS, Sponsored by the Mexican American Legislative Leadership Foundation, this program offers outstanding university students and recent graduates an opportunity to serve as full-time policy interns in the offices of members of the Mexican American Legislative Caucus and to gain experience working with the Texas Legislature; and WHEREAS, A doctoral student at The University of Texas at Austin, Mr. Gonzalez is studying education administration and currently researching the impact of federal and state legislation on education, as well as the presence and performance of Latino men in higher education; he has previously served as a community organizer with UT Austin's Project Mentoring to Achieve Latino Education Success and as an education policy intern with the White House Domestic Policy Council; and WHEREAS, Over the course of his tenure at the State Capitol, Manny Gonzalez has been of great assistance to Representative Anchia's office, while acquiring knowledge of issues facing citizens of the Lone Star State; he has performed his duties as a legislative aide with skill, perseverance, and dedication, and he may indeed look forward to a rewarding future; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas Legislature hereby honor Manny Gonzalez as a participant in the 2013 Moreno/Rangel Legislative Leadership Program and commend him for his notable contributions to the legislative process; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Mr. Gonzalez as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
