H.R. No. 2191 R E S O L U T I O N WHEREAS, The girls' track and field team of McGregor High School won the District 15-2A championship with a fine showing in the district meet on April 10, 2013; and WHEREAS, In capturing the title, the Lady Bulldogs benefited from an outstanding performance by Latecia Irons, who won the 200-meter dash, placed second in the long jump, and helped her school to attain two relay triumphs; in the 400-meter race, she joined with teammates VaRonika Loredo, Devon Norwood, and Kailyn Harmel to claim the victory, and in the 1,600, she, Ms. Harmel, Ashley Fehlman, and Samantha Lenamon were first across the finish line; and WHEREAS, Ms. Harmel placed second in the 100 hurdles while Ms. Fehlman and Ms. Lenamon took second and third, respectively, in the 800-meter competition; McGregor athletes were impressive in several additional field events as well, with Ms. Lenamon earning third place in the high jump, and Angela Rost finishing second in the shot put and third in the discus; and WHEREAS, Guided by head coach Stacy Ainsworth, the Lady Bulldogs tallied a total score of 132 in the final team standings, outpacing the second-place Crawford High squad by 13.5 points to take home the trophy; and WHEREAS, Winning a district championship represents the culmination of countless hours of hard work and an unwavering commitment to excellence, and the members of the McGregor girls' track and field team may indeed take pride in this memorable achievement; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas Legislature hereby congratulate the McGregor High School girls' track and field team on winning the District 15-2A championship and extend to the team's athletes and coaches sincere best wishes for continued success; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for the team as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
