H.R. No. 2214
R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Ricco Garcia of Mission has been participating in
the 2013 Moreno/Rangel Legislative Leadership Program, and during
the 83rd Legislative Session, he has ably served his fellow Texans
as an aide in the office of State Representative Oscar Longoria; and
WHEREAS, Sponsored by the Mexican American Legislative
Leadership Foundation, this program offers outstanding university
students and recent graduates an opportunity to serve as full-time
policy interns in the offices of members of the Mexican American
Legislative Caucus and to gain experience working with the Texas
Legislature; and
WHEREAS, A graduate of The University of Texas at Austin, Mr.
Garcia earned his degree in government and also studied rhetoric
and writing; he has held research positions with an education
advocacy organization and a lobbying firm, and he served as an
intern during the previous Texas legislative session; in addition,
he spent a semester working in the Washington, D.C., office of
United States Representative Elliot Engel; and
WHEREAS, Over the course of his tenure at the State Capitol,
Ricco Garcia has been of great assistance to Representative
Longoria's office, while acquiring knowledge of issues facing
citizens of the Lone Star State; he has performed his duties as a
legislative aide with skill, perseverance, and dedication, and he
may indeed look forward to a rewarding future; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas
Legislature hereby honor Ricco Garcia as a participant in the 2013
Moreno/Rangel Legislative Leadership Program and commend him for
his notable contributions to the legislative process; and, be it
further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for Mr. Garcia as an expression of high regard by the Texas
House of Representatives.
