H.R. No. 2236
R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Gladys Gipson Arline of Hillister is celebrating her
90th birthday on June 6, 2013, to the delight of her family and
friends; and
WHEREAS, Gladys Arline was born in Spurger in 1923 to the
Reverend Oness Gipson and Bertha Gipson; since she was a child, she
has traveled across the state singing and preaching the gospel;
Mrs. Arline has served as a pianist for a number of churches, and
she has sung solos at over 500 funerals throughout her career; a
member of the Little Flock Baptist Church in Hillister, she
continues to travel and play music as an ambassador of her
congregation; and
WHEREAS, Mrs. Arline has been blessed with four children, and
she has inspired them all to become musicians and singers in their
own right; with the passing years, her family has grown to include
four generations of descendants; and
WHEREAS, Respected and admired by all who are privileged to
know her, Mrs. Arline may reflect with great satisfaction on a
lifetime of achievement, and it is a pleasure to join her many
friends and loved ones in honoring her on this memorable occasion;
now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas
Legislature hereby honor Gladys Gipson Arline on her 90th birthday
and extend to her sincere best wishes for continued happiness; and,
be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for Mrs. Arline as an expression of high regard by the
Texas House of Representatives.
