No. 3053 R E S O L U T I O N WHEREAS, Rosaline Cruz is graduating as the valedictorian of the senior class of Crosby High School on June 4, 2013; and WHEREAS, Earning the title of valedictorian requires not only intellect and aptitude, but also four years of dedication to the highest academic standards; Ms. Cruz demonstrated a thorough understanding of a wide range of subjects, and she has earned membership in the National Honor Society, the Science National Honor Society, the National English Honor Society, and the National Society of High School Scholars; and WHEREAS, The daughter of proud parents Rebeca and Rolando Cruz, Ms. Cruz has further distinguished herself through her numerous extracurricular activities, including the Leo Club, the Crosby High Afternoon Tea Society, the yearbook, and the University Interscholastic League journalism team; she was selected as a member of the all-state journalism staff and qualified to compete at the Interscholastic League Press Conference state contest for yearbook, and she has been recognized for her achievements with the Leadership Award for Students from the American Legion; following her graduation, this dynamic young woman plans to study biology at the University of Mississippi and hopes to later attend optometry school; and WHEREAS, Throughout her academic career, Rosaline Cruz has earned the respect and admiration of her teachers and classmates at Crosby High, and her exceptional scholastic ability, hard work, and commitment to excellence have opened the way to limitless opportunities for this remarkable young Texan; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas Legislature hereby congratulate Rosaline Cruz, valedictorian of the Crosby High School Class of 2013, and extend to her sincere best wishes for continued success as she begins the next exciting chapter of her life; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Ms. Cruz as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
