 R E S O L U T I O N
 WHEREAS, A full and generous life drew to a close with the
 passing of Martha Barron Bondurant of Arlington on December 1,
 2011, at the age of 89; and
 WHEREAS, Born in Baltimore, Maryland, on January 8, 1922, the
 former Marty Barron was the daughter of Thomas Barron and Hazel
 Donohoe; she attended St. Dominic Catholic School and graduated
 from Seton High School before going on to complete her education at
 Mercy Hospital School of Nursing; and
 WHEREAS, This dedicated nurse enlisted in the United States
 Army Air Corps and then transferred to the Army Ground Corps in
 order to be deployed overseas during World War II; she worked at the
 army hospital in Torquay, England, and on one occasion, she
 assisted surgeons for 72 straight hours as they treated men wounded
 in the Battle of the Bulge; after the Allied victory in Europe, she
 cared for soldiers and concentration camp survivors in Reims,
 France; it was there that she met Army Captain Fred Warren
 Bondurant, Jr., and he later proposed to her in Baltimore, where she
 was working at the Merchant Marine Hospital; and
 WHEREAS, Mr. and Mrs. Bondurant married in her hometown and
 moved to Arlington; over the course of the couple's 68 years
 together, they became the proud parents of 6 children, Sherry,
 Terrie, Chrissie, Rick, Sandy, and Barry, and shared in the joy of
 welcoming into their family 28 grandchildren and 14
 great-grandchildren; and
 WHEREAS, Blessed with a devoted family and admiring friends,
 Marty Bondurant was a source of joy and inspiration to all who
 shared in the richness of her life, and those who loved her will
 forever hold her close in their hearts; now, therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas
 Legislature hereby pay tribute to the memory of Martha Barron
 Bondurant and extend sincere condolences to the members of her
 family: to her husband, Fred W. Bondurant; to her children, Sherry
 Lewis and her husband, Jim, Terrie Whitman and her husband, Doug,
 Chrissie Keffler and her husband, Bill, Rick Bondurant, Sandy Berry
 and her husband, Tim, and Barry Bondurant and his wife, Karen; to
 her grandchildren, Amy, Andrew, Jennie, Elizabeth, Sarah, Katie,
 Abby, Joey, Sam, Ellie, Will, Danielle, Rachel, Ricky, Josh,
 Nathan, Ben, T. J., Luke, Nick, Emily, Caleb, Rebekah, Samantha,
 Noah, Tabitha, and Faith; to her sisters, Isobel Barron and
 Catherine Craig and her husband, Gene; to her 14
 great-grandchildren; and to her other relatives and friends; and,
 be it further
 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 prepared for her family and that when the Texas House of
 Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Marty
 Bondurant.
