H.R. No. 506 R E S O L U T I O N WHEREAS, For nearly three decades, Dr. Michael Stuart, DDS, of Mesquite has been a leader in his profession; and WHEREAS, Dr. Stuart earned his bachelor's degree from Dallas Baptist University and his master's degree in church music from the Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary before graduating from the Baylor College of Dentistry in 1986; that same year, he opened a private practice near his hometown of Mesquite; and WHEREAS, Currently completing a term as president of the Texas Dental Association, Dr. Stuart has also shared his time and expertise with the Texas Academy of General Dentistry, which he served as president, the American Dental Association's Council on Dental Practice, which he served as chair, and the Dallas County Dental Society, which he served as editor; in addition, he is a member of many dental societies, among them the American Dental Association and the Academy of General Dentistry; and WHEREAS, Dr. Stuart is the recipient of four prestigious fellowships, including one from the Academy of General Dentistry, an honor given to dentists for their commitment to continuing education; moreover, he was nominated for Texas Dentist of the Year in 2002 and named Distinguished Alumnus of the Year by Dallas Baptist University in 2005; and WHEREAS, Despite his busy career, Dr. Stuart has given back to his fellow citizens by hosting local "Dentistry from the Heart" events, at which dentists provide free dental care to those in need, and he is helping guide a new generation of dentists as a mentor in the Great Expectations program at the Baylor College of Dentistry; and WHEREAS, In all of his endeavors, Dr. Stuart enjoys the love and support of his wife of 38 years, Kathy, who is retired as an educator and principal from the Mesquite Independent School District; the couple take great pride in their children, Laura and Maryanne, as well as their grandchildren Grace Renee, Abigail Katherine, Anna Kaylynn, William Aaron, and Clayton Stuart; and WHEREAS, Michael Stuart continues to distinguish himself through his outstanding dedication to his patients, his peers, and his professional community, and he is held in high regard by all who are privileged to know him; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas Legislature hereby commend Dr. Michael Stuart for his service to the field of dentistry and extend to him sincere best wishes for continued success and happiness; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Dr. Stuart as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
