No. 511 R E S O L U T I O N WHEREAS, The City of Garland and the Garland Fire Department have earned Fit Friendly Workplace awards from the American Heart Association; and WHEREAS, Honored for promoting a culture of wellness, these notable North Texas employers have demonstrated a commitment to supporting physical, nutritional, and cultural activities that benefit staff; and WHEREAS, The Garland Fire Department's documented success in improving employee fitness is credited, in part, to its creation of an onsite CrossFit gym and running path; these contributions to the working environment helped the department to earn the AHA Platinum Level Fit Friendly Award; and WHEREAS, Named a Gold Level Fit Friendly Worksite for the fourth consecutive year, the City of Garland was honored for its Commit to Wellness program, which has helped a number of city workers to adopt and maintain healthier lifestyles; and WHEREAS, The fitness programs of the City of Garland and the Garland Fire Department are improving the well-being of participants, while saving money and improving productivity, and these proactive and beneficial examples of municipal innovation merit wide recognition and praise; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas Legislature hereby congratulate the City of Garland and the Garland Fire Department on earning Fit Friendly Workplace awards from the American Heart Association and commend all involved for their achievements; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for the award recipients as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
