H.R. No. 582
R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Mary Henkel Judson of Port Aransas has been inducted
into the Texas Newspaper Foundation Hall of Fame; and
WHEREAS, Honored at the Texas Press Association's Midwinter
Conference & Trade Show on January 18, 2013, Mary Judson was duly
recognized for her many contributions to the newspaper industry in
the Lone Star State; and
WHEREAS, This distinguished leader and pioneer in the field
became the first woman elected president of the TPA, and she has
further served her profession as president of the South Texas Press
Association; and
WHEREAS, Today, Ms. Judson is editor of the Port Aransas
South Jetty newspaper, which she copublishes with her husband,
Murray; together, the couple also serve as copresidents of the
Texas Gulf Coast Press Association; and
WHEREAS, Mary Judson's commitment to excellence is evident
throughout her body of work, and her latest achievement is
indicative of the high regard in which she is held by her fellow
journalists across the Lone Star State; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas
Legislature hereby congratulate Mary Henkel Judson on her induction
into the Texas Newspaper Foundation Hall of Fame and extend to her
sincere best wishes for continued success; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for Ms. Judson as an expression of high regard by the Texas
House of Representatives.
