 R E S O L U T I O N
 WHEREAS, Deeply devoted to her family, her students, and her
 community, Barbara McFaul of Kemp made a meaningful difference in
 the lives of her loved ones and fellow citizens alike, and her
 contributions will be fondly remembered for years to come; and
 WHEREAS, The daughter of Bessie Jones and B. Tharp and sister
 of Tom Willis Tharp, Barbara Sue Tharp was born in Kemp on July 12,
 1937, and died suddenly on January 10, 2013, at the age of 75; and
 WHEREAS, Mrs. McFaul and her husband, Harvey McFaul, shared
 56 rewarding years of marriage, becoming the parents of a daughter,
 Jana, and two sons, Barry and Kelly, and later welcoming two
 granddaughters into their family; and
 WHEREAS, After working in business and teaching elsewhere,
 Mrs. McFaul returned to her hometown and an exemplary 28-year
 career at Kemp High School; during her tenure at the school, she
 taught mostly business courses and assisted with a host of
 extracurricular activities; a sponsor of the Business
 Professionals of America club, she accompanied her students to
 countless meets at the district, regional, state, and national
 levels, proudly witnessing their many successes; in addition, she
 served as a class sponsor and helped plan such school year
 highlights as homecoming, the prom, and graduation; and
 WHEREAS, Known for her exacting standards, unwavering
 dedication to her students, and unshakeable belief in their
 potential in the classroom and beyond, Mrs. McFaul was revered by
 those in her charge; she retired from teaching in 2010, and in
 September 2012 she was recognized with the naming of McFaul Hall at
 the high school in her honor; this public-spirited woman also
 shared her time and energy as a multiple-term member of the Kemp
 City Council; and
 WHEREAS, Barbara McFaul led a joyful, purposeful life of
 service, and those who were blessed to share in her love and
 friendship will forever hold her close in their hearts; now,
 therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas
 Legislature hereby pay tribute to the memory of Barbara Sue Tharp
 McFaul and that sincere condolences be extended to the members of
 her family: to her husband, Harvey McFaul; to her daughter, Jana
 Cox, and her husband, Tim; to her granddaughters, Erin and Nicole
 Cox; and to her many other friends and loved ones; and, be it
 further
 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 prepared for her family and that when the Texas House of
 Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Barbara
 McFaul.
