 R E S O L U T I O N
 WHEREAS, The 100th anniversary of the Round Rock Independent
 School District is being celebrated in 2013, and this milestone
 provides a welcome opportunity to honor its rich history and many
 accomplishments; and
 WHEREAS, Round Rock ISD was originally established as
 Williamson County Common School District No. 19 on May 17, 1913,
 when voters approved the district's incorporation; the following
 year, a three-story school building was constructed on West
 Anderson Avenue; and
 WHEREAS, Additional facilities were built in the decades that
 followed, including the Hopewell School that served African
 American students from 1922 to 1966 and a campus for Hispanic
 students that operated from 1933 until 1948; moreover, a number of
 existing schools in outlying areas were consolidated into the
 district, including Bell, Caldwell Heights, Cedar Valley, Gattis,
 McNeil, Merrelltown, Pond Springs, and Stony Point schools; and
 WHEREAS, Since 1970, Round Rock ISD has expanded to keep pace
 with the city's explosive growth; today, it serves nearly 46,000
 students and encompasses 32 elementary schools, 10 middle schools,
 6 high schools, and 3 education centers; faculty and staff number
 almost 6,000, each of whom uphold the district's commitment to
 creating a constructive learning experience for each student; and
 WHEREAS, Through the monumental changes that have taken place
 over the past 100 years, Round Rock ISD has excelled in its
 educational mission; in so doing, it has provided numerous
 generations of area residents with a strong foundation for success
 and contributed greatly to the betterment of the community; now,
 therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas
 Legislature hereby commemorate the centennial of the Round Rock
 Independent School District and extend to its students, educators,
 and staff sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further
 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 prepared for the district as an expression of high regard by the
 Texas House of Representatives.
