H.R. No. 771 R E S O L U T I O N WHEREAS, A full and productive life drew to a close with the passing of Maria Magdalena Saenz Cruz on February 17, 2013, at the age of 77; and WHEREAS, Mrs. Cruz worked for the Community Action Council of South Texas for eight years and for the Rio Grande City Consolidated Independent School District, which she served as a cook, for more than a decade; she was also an energetic volunteer who was engaged in the political life of her community, and she gave freely of her time and talents to assist the March of Dimes and to help area residents with filling out important paperwork; and WHEREAS, Mrs. Cruz enjoyed 58 years of marriage to Ignacio Alaniz Cruz, and together they had eight children, Jose Luis, Luis Manuel, Noelia, Magdalena, Amalia, Ignacio, Ricardo, and Jacobo; the couple also shared in the joy of welcoming 29 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren into their family; a woman of faith, Mrs. Cruz brought up her children in the Church of Christ; and WHEREAS, With her kindness and generosity, Maria Cruz touched the lives of many people, and she will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all those who shared in the blessing of her life; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas Legislature hereby pay tribute to the memory of Maria Magdalena Saenz Cruz and extend sincere sympathy to her relatives and many friends; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for her family and that when the Texas House of Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Maria Magdalena Saenz Cruz.
