 R E S O L U T I O N
 WHEREAS, In 2012, Community Family Centers marked four
 decades of service to residents of the Greater East End of Houston;
 and
 WHEREAS, Established in 1972, CFC provides vital support to
 40,000 low-income individuals each year; the organization offers a
 number of programs for adults and families, including general
 education classes, English instruction and translation assistance,
 and an emergency food pantry, which distributed 1.6 million pounds
 of food in 2011; and
 WHEREAS, CFC has also made a positive difference in the lives
 of East End youth; creating pathways to success, the group operates
 a prekindergarten program and oversees the John P. McGovern Sports
 and Recreation Center, where children enjoy academic, cultural, and
 athletic enrichment; and
 WHEREAS, Since its inception, CFC has been dedicated to
 helping individuals achieve self-sufficiency, and this worthwhile
 endeavor is building a brighter future for the Bayou City; now,
 therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas
 Legislature hereby honor Community Family Centers on the 40th
 anniversary of its founding and extend to its leadership and staff
 sincere best wishes with their important work; and, be it further
 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 prepared for CFC as an expression of high regard by the Texas House
 of Representatives.
