H.R. No. 843 R E S O L U T I O N WHEREAS, Joe Phipps received a certificate of appreciation from Military Order of the Purple Heart Chapter No. 4077 in Waco in January 2013, in recognition of his service to area veterans; and WHEREAS, The owner of Phipps Memorial, Mr. Phipps has managed the company since 1991, when his father, who founded the business in 1939, passed away; today, he works with his son, Joe Phipps, Jr., and his daughter, Donna, in the monument industry, serving McLennan and surrounding counties; under his leadership, the family-owned company has garnered a number of awards for design and knowledgeable service; and WHEREAS, Mr. Phipps pays tribute to men and women who have served in the military by donating monuments for veterans to families who cannot afford them; in addition to providing the grave marker, he arranges for its installation and for landscaping at the site; Mr. Phipps also supports the Waco Veterans Administration Medical Center and donates memorials in the military section of Rosemound Cemetery; and WHEREAS, The service and sacrifice of America's veterans must never be forgotten, and Joe Phipps has gone above and beyond in helping to ensure that former members of our military are appropriately honored; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas Legislature hereby commend Joe Phipps for his contributions in behalf of veterans of our nation's armed forces and extend to him sincere best wishes for the future; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for Mr. Phipps as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
