H.R. No. 853 R E S O L U T I O N WHEREAS, The iDiscovery Safari Fair, a special career event for Coastal Bend area students, took place in February 2013 at the Richard M. Borchard Regional Fairgrounds in Robstown; and WHEREAS, Intended to appeal to students enrolled in kindergarten through the 12th grade, the fair enabled participants to meet and talk with professionals from numerous fields of endeavor, including architecture and construction, the visual arts, biology, and astronomy; in addition, the fair held scholarship drawings and raffles and featured storytellers and other entertainment; and WHEREAS, The iDiscovery Safari is a project of the Coastal Bend P-16 Council; also known as the Coastal Bend Partners for College and Career Readiness, the organization works with South Texas school districts in 11 counties of Education Service Center Region 2 to promote high school graduation and higher education; several area universities were also on hand at the safari to share information on opportunities for students; and WHEREAS, Children are the Lone Star State's most precious resource, and by encouraging students to plan for educational and career success, the Coastal Bend P-16 Council is helping to bring about a brighter future for many young Texans; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas Legislature hereby commemorate the iDiscovery Safari Fair hosted by the Coastal Bend P-16 Council and commend the fair's organizers and participants for their commitment to education; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for the Coastal Bend P-16 Council as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
