H.R. No. 861
R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Mike Barajas was named Volunteer of the Year at the
2012 Rowlett Boards and Commissions Volunteer Banquet on December
6, 2012; and
WHEREAS, This prestigious award is one of several accolades
that are given to individuals who distinguish themselves by
donating their time and talents to benefit the community; Mr.
Barajas, the coordinator for the city's Volunteers in Police
Service program, helped to expand opportunities for local citizens
to participate in this worthy initiative; and
WHEREAS, His accomplishments with VIPS are all the more
impressive given that he also serves on the board of directors of
the Rowlett Citizen Corps Council, a group that promotes disaster
and emergency preparedness; and
WHEREAS, Setting an example of civic engagement to which
others may aspire, Mike Barajas has helped to make Rowlett an even
better place in which to live, and his contributions have benefited
his fellow residents in many ways; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas
Legislature hereby congratulate Mike Barajas on his receipt of the
Volunteer of the Year Award at the 2012 Rowlett Boards and
Commissions Volunteer Banquet and extend to him sincere best wishes
for the future; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for Mr. Barajas as an expression of high regard by the
Texas House of Representatives.
