No. 862 R E S O L U T I O N WHEREAS, The City of Rowlett has earned two prestigious awards for financial accountability; and WHEREAS, In 2012, the Texas Comptroller of Public Accounts recognized the city as a Gold Level member of the Texas Comptroller Leadership Circle; initiated in December 2009, the program honors local governments that are striving to meet high standards of financial transparency online; the award spotlights those that open their books to the public, provide a clear picture of spending, and share information in a user-friendly format; and WHEREAS, In addition to attaining this notable goal, the city was honored for the eighth consecutive year with the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting; presented by the Government Finance Officers Association, the award is the top form of recognition given by the group in the area of governmental accounting and financial reporting; and WHEREAS, Keeping taxpayers informed about how public monies are spent helps to maintain a high level of trust between citizens and their government, and the City of Rowlett truly merits praise for its accomplishments in this worthy endeavor; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas Legislature hereby congratulate the City of Rowlett on earning honors from the Texas Comptroller of Public Accounts and the Government Finance Officers Association and commend the staff of the Rowlett Financial Services Department for their outstanding work; and, be it further RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be prepared for the City of Rowlett as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
