 R E S O L U T I O N
 WHEREAS, The Town North Family YMCA has served the Dallas
 community for more than 50 years; and
 WHEREAS, In 1844, the Young Men's Christian Association was
 founded in London by George Williams to provide a haven of faith in
 the turmoil of a newly industrialized city; the first YMCA in the
 United States was established in Boston seven years later, and
 through the years, the movement continued to expand its mission;
 today, YMCAs in more than 120 countries around the world help people
 create a better future for themselves and their families; and
 WHEREAS, The Town North Family YMCA is committed to nurturing
 youth development, energizing healthy living, and inspiring social
 responsibility; it shares resources with people of all ages, races,
 religions, and income levels; and
 WHEREAS, In addition to providing fitness facilities and
 group exercise classes, the YMCA offers a variety of educational
 programs to promote healthier decisions and support physical,
 intellectual, and spiritual strength; its youth initiatives
 encourage positive values and behaviors, as well as healthy
 exercise, and allow children to explore unique talents and
 interests; moreover, the Y offers CPR and first aid instruction,
 and its many programs include diabetes prevention, a Livestrong
 partnership for cancer survivors, and activities for senior
 citizens; and
 WHEREAS, For more than a half-century, the Town North Family
 YMCA has provided a positive environment for area residents seeking
 to improve their health and fitness and other important aspects of
 their lives, and it is appropriate to take this opportunity to
 recognize this notable organization; now, therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas
 Legislature hereby honor the Town North Family YMCA for its
 outstanding contributions to the community and extend sincere best
 wishes for continued success to its staff and administration; and,
 be it further
 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 prepared for the Town North Family YMCA as an expression of high
 regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
