 R E S O L U T I O N
 WHEREAS, Members of Leadership Gainesville are visiting the
 State Capitol on March 19, 2013, to gain further insight into the
 workings of state government; and
 WHEREAS, Sponsored by the Gainesville Area Chamber of
 Commerce, Leadership Gainesville was established in 1989 to seek
 out, train, and promote well-informed, civic-minded individuals to
 hold voluntary positions of responsibility in the community; and
 WHEREAS, The course lasts eight months and involves citizens
 who represent a wide range of backgrounds and perspectives; the
 program enables them to expand and diversify their network while
 increasing their knowledge of city, county, and state government;
 participants also learn more about vital public issues in such
 areas as education, health, agriculture, economic development, and
 human services; graduates of the program are sought after by many
 organizations across Cooke County for their expertise and
 commitment to service; and
 WHEREAS, Through its efforts, Leadership Gainesville has
 promoted the spirit of volunteerism and community pride that are
 defining characteristics of Gainesville, and by fostering an
 informed and engaged citizenry, the program is helping to build a
 brighter and more prosperous future for the Lone Star State; now,
 therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas
 Legislature hereby recognize March 19, 2013, as Leadership
 Gainesville Day at the State Capitol and extend to the members of
 this noteworthy organization sincere best wishes for continued
 success; and, be it further
 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 prepared for the group as an expression of high regard by the Texas
 House of Representatives.
