 R E S O L U T I O N
 WHEREAS, L. V. Berkner High School in Richardson has earned
 national recognition for establishing a learning community that
 stimulates intellectual engagement and academic achievement; and
 WHEREAS, The recipient of a number of prestigious honors,
 Berkner High has been named a U.S. Department of Education Blue
 Ribbon School and a National Center for Education Achievement
 Higher Performing School, and been honored by Newsweek and the
 Washington Post as a Top U.S. High School; and
 WHEREAS, Berkner High has also been chosen by Advancement Via
 Individual Determination (AVID) as a National Demonstration Site,
 and its debate team earned runner-up status nationally; on the
 state level, this notable institution has earned the titles of
 Texas Education Agency Recognized School, Texas Education Agency
 Best Practices Clearinghouse School, and Texas Monthly Best Public
 School; and
 WHEREAS, These significant accomplishments are a testament
 to the rigorous scholastic standards and exceptional opportunities
 that characterize Berkner High School, and they are a source of
 justifiable pride to principal Ron Griffen and all those associated
 with the school; now, therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas
 Legislature hereby honor the administration and faculty of L. V.
 Berkner High School for their commitment to excellence in education
 and extend to them sincere best wishes for continued success with
 their important work; and, be it further
 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 prepared for the school as an expression of high regard by the Texas
 House of Representatives.
