H.R. No. 928
R E S O L U T I O N
WHEREAS, Ivonne Sandoval of Hewitt was named a recipient of a
prestigious Rita H. Lottinville Prize from the University of
Oklahoma in January 2013; and
WHEREAS, One of only five University of Oklahoma sophomores
chosen for this elite honor, Ms. Sandoval qualified for
consideration by having at least a 3.8 grade point average, and she
was selected as the result of an interview and essay process, during
which she proved herself a most worthy individual who exemplifies
the qualities synonymous with those who achieve this accolade; and
WHEREAS, This outstanding young Texan is a Henderson Scholar
who is studying chemistry and biological sciences in a physician's
assistant program at OU, and she also participates in the
university orchestra, Reformed University Fellowship, Habitat for
Humanity, and Sigma Phi Lambda; a 2011 graduate of Midway High
School, where she was a member of the National Honor Society, she
was recognized in the past with an award from the Northwest Optimist
Club, and she was chosen to attend the Texas State Science Fair four
times; and
WHEREAS, Ms. Sandoval is the daughter of proud parents Maria
Flores and Alfredo Sandoval and the sister of Alfredo Sandoval,
Jr., and Joseph Sandoval; and
WHEREAS, An exemplary student, Ivonne Sandoval may indeed
reflect with a sense of accomplishment on her academic success thus
far and look with anticipation and optimism toward the challenges
and opportunities that lie ahead; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas
Legislature hereby congratulate Ivonne Sandoval on her receipt of a
Rita H. Lottinville Prize from the University of Oklahoma and
extend to her sincere best wishes for continued success and
achievement; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
prepared for Ms. Sandoval as an expression of high regard by the
Texas House of Representatives.
