 R E S O L U T I O N
 WHEREAS, Friends and family are mourning the loss of Robert
 H. Korman of Arlington, who passed away on March 30, 2012, at the
 age of 90; and
 WHEREAS, A native of Chicago, Bob Korman was born on May 17,
 1921, to Stella and Henry Korman; he attended the University of
 Idaho, joining the Delta Tau Delta Fraternity, but interrupted his
 education to enlist in the U.S. Army in 1942; he subsequently
 served in the infantry for three years, with much of that time spent
 in the Pacific theater; at the war's conclusion, he returned to
 Chicago and joined the Illinois National Guard; and
 WHEREAS, Mr. Korman met his future wife, Dorothy Johnson,
 through his sister, and the couple were married in 1947; they moved
 to Indianapolis in 1953, and Mr. Korman became a sales
 representative for RTE Corporation and also joined the Indiana
 National Guard; he went on to graduate from the Army Command and
 General Staff College and the Industrial College of the Armed
 Forces, and by the time he retired from the National Guard in 1970,
 he had attained the rank of colonel; and
 WHEREAS, That same year, Mr. Korman accepted a promotion as
 regional sales manager with RTE and moved to Arlington; he retired
 from the corporation in 1986 and turned his energies to civic and
 community organizations; he served as a member of the board of
 directors of the Tarrant County Citizens Crime Commission, as a
 member of the New Visions and Strategic Planning Committees of the
 Arlington Independent School District, and as president of the
 Arlington Senior Men's Club; in addition, he was actively involved
 with the Arlington Parks and Recreation Board for many years,
 including serving as chair, and he participated at the local,
 state, and national levels of the American Diabetes Association;
 and
 WHEREAS, Mr. Korman enjoyed worship and fellowship at Lake
 Arlington Baptist Church, where he taught Sunday school and served
 on the church's finance board; devoted to his family, he shared 59
 years with his wife, who preceded him in death in 2007, and he was
 the proud father of three children, Dian, Donna, and Bob; moreover,
 he experienced the delight of welcoming two grandsons, Travis and
 Zachary, into his life; among those closest to him he was known for
 his sense of humor and love of practical jokes, and he was often
 heard laughing; and
 WHEREAS, Bob Korman was a true asset to his country, his
 community, and his family, and although he will be deeply missed,
 cherished memories of time spent in his company will long endure in
 the hearts of all those who were privileged to know him; now,
 therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 83rd Texas
 Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Robert H. Korman and
 extend sincere sympathy to the members of his family: to his
 daughters, Dian C. Korman and Donna L. Korman; to his son, Bob
 Korman, and his wife, Rachel; to his grandsons, Travis and Zachary;
 to his sister, Elaine; and to his other relatives and friends; and,
 be it further
 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
 prepared for his family and that when the Texas House of
 Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Bob Korman.
