77 relating to training for public school educators in identifying
88 mental health and suicide risks among students.
99 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1010 SECTION 1. Section 161.325, Health and Safety Code, is
1111 amended by adding Subsections (c-1) and (c-2) to read as follows:
1212 (c-1) Except as otherwise provided by this subsection, each
1313 school district shall provide training described in the components
1414 set forth under Subsection (b) for teachers, counselors,
1515 principals, and all other appropriate personnel. A school district
1616 is required to provide the training at an elementary school campus
1717 only to the extent that sufficient funding and programs are
1818 available. A school district may implement a program on the list to
1919 satisfy the requirements of this subsection.
2020 (c-2) For any training under Subsection (c-1), each school
2121 district shall maintain records that include the name of each
2222 district employee who participated in the training. A school
2323 district employee described under Subsection (c-1) must
2424 participate in the training at least one time.
2525 SECTION 2. Subchapter O-1, Chapter 161, Health and Safety
2626 Code, is amended by adding Section 161.326 to read as follows:
2727 Sec. 161.326. IMMUNITY. This subchapter does not:
2828 (1) waive any immunity from liability of a school
2929 district or of district school officers or employees;
3030 (2) create any liability for a cause of action against
3131 a school district or against district school officers or employees;
3232 or
3333 (3) waive any immunity from liability under Section
3434 74.151, Civil Practice and Remedies Code.
3535 SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2013.
