77 relating to the election of members of the board of directors of the
88 Central Texas Groundwater Conservation District.
99 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1010 SECTION 1. Subsection (b), Section 8810.051, Special
1111 District Local Laws Code, is amended to read as follows:
1212 (b) Directors serve staggered four-year terms, with two or
1313 three directors' terms expiring at the first meeting of the board
1414 after the November election in even-numbered years and after the
1515 board has canvassed the votes and the newly elected directors have
1616 qualified for office and taken the constitutional oath [June 1 of
1717 each even-numbered year].
1818 SECTION 2. Section 8810.053, Special District Local Laws
1919 Code, is amended to read as follows:
2020 Sec. 8810.053. ELECTION DATE. The district shall hold an
2121 election to elect the appropriate number of directors on the
2222 uniform election date prescribed by Section 41.001, Election Code,
2323 in November [May] of each even-numbered year.
2424 SECTION 3. A director of the board of the Central Texas
2525 Groundwater Conservation District who is serving on the day before
2626 the effective date of this Act shall serve until the director's term
2727 expires. A director whose term expires in May 2014 shall continue
2828 to serve until the director's successor has qualified for office
2929 and taken the constitutional oath following the directors' election
3030 held on November 4, 2014, in accordance with Sections 8810.051 and
3131 8810.053, Special District Local Laws Code, as amended by this Act.
3232 A director whose term expires in May 2016 shall continue to serve
3333 until the director's successor has qualified for office and taken
3434 the constitutional oath following the directors' election held on
3535 November 8, 2016.
3636 SECTION 4. (a) The legal notice of the intention to
3737 introduce this Act, setting forth the general substance of this
3838 Act, has been published as provided by law, and the notice and a
3939 copy of this Act have been furnished to all persons, agencies,
4040 officials, or entities to which they are required to be furnished
4141 under Section 59, Article XVI, Texas Constitution, and Chapter 313,
4242 Government Code.
4343 (b) The governor, one of the required recipients, has
4444 submitted the notice and Act to the Texas Commission on
4545 Environmental Quality.
4646 (c) The Texas Commission on Environmental Quality has filed
4747 its recommendations relating to this Act with the governor, the
4848 lieutenant governor, and the speaker of the house of
4949 representatives within the required time.
5050 (d) All requirements of the constitution and laws of this
5151 state and the rules and procedures of the legislature with respect
5252 to the notice, introduction, and passage of this Act are fulfilled
5353 and accomplished.
5454 SECTION 5. This Act takes effect September 1, 2013.
