A BILL TO BE ENTITLED
AN ACT
relating to the registration of boat trailers.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
SECTION 1. (a) Not later than January 1, 2014, the Parks
and Wildlife Department and the Texas Department of Motor Vehicles
shall enter into a memorandum of understanding that:
(1) identifies a procedure by which a person may
register or renew a registration for a boat trailer with the Parks
and Wildlife Department concurrently with a registration for a
certificate of number or the renewal of a certificate of number for
a boat;
(2) establishes a plan for sharing records and
personnel necessary to implement Subdivision (1); and
(3) provides for the distribution of costs for
administering this Act.
(b) Not later than March 1, 2014, the Parks and Wildlife
Department and the Texas Department of Motor Vehicles shall adopt
rules to implement the provisions of the memorandum of
understanding described by Subsection (a).
SECTION 2. This Act expires September 1, 2014.
SECTION 3. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives
a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as
provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this
Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this
Act takes effect September 1, 2013.
