99 AN ACT
1010 relating to the appointment of directors for the Viridian Municipal
1111 Management District.
1212 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1313 SECTION 1. Section 3861.052, Special District Local Laws
1414 Code, is amended to read as follows:
1515 Sec. 3861.052. APPOINTMENT OF DIRECTORS [ELECTION DATE].
1616 The mayor and members of the governing body of the city shall
1717 appoint directors. A person is appointed if the majority of those
1818 members and the mayor vote to appoint that person [The board shall
1919 hold elections for directors on the uniform election date in May in
2020 even-numbered years].
2121 SECTION 2. The changes in law made by this Act do not affect
2222 the entitlement of a director serving on the board of directors of
2323 the Viridian Municipal Management District immediately before the
2424 effective date of this Act to continue to carry out the board's
2525 functions for the remainder of the director's term. As the
2626 directors' terms expire, the mayor and members of the governing
2727 body of the city shall replace the elected directors beginning with
2828 the directors whose terms expire May 31, 2014.
2929 SECTION 3. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives
3030 a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as
3131 provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this
3232 Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this
3333 Act takes effect September 1, 2013.
