99 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
1010 SECTION 1. Subsection (c), Section 402.042, Government
1111 Code, is amended to read as follows:
1212 (c) A request for an opinion must be in writing and sent by
1313 certified or registered mail, with return receipt requested,
1414 addressed to the office of the attorney general in Austin, or
1515 electronically to an electronic mail address designated by the
1616 attorney general for the purpose of receiving requests for opinions
1717 under this section. The attorney general shall:
1818 (1) acknowledge receipt of the request not later than
1919 the 15th day after the date that it is received; and
2020 (2) issue the opinion not later than the 180th day
2121 after the date that it is received, unless before that deadline the
2222 attorney general notifies the requesting person in writing that the
2323 opinion will be delayed or not rendered and states the reasons for
2424 the delay or refusal.
2525 SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2013.
