The bill would require the Higher Education Coordinating Board to establish no later than January 1, 2014, a system to acquire and maintain data regarding the initial residency program choices made by graduates of medical schools in Texas and the initial practice choices made by persons completing medical residency programs in this state. Based on information submitted by the Higher Education Coordinating Board, the provisions of the bill could be implemented within existing resources. This legislation would take effect September 1, 2013. Local Government Impact No fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
