| 10 | 10 | SECTION 1. Subchapter D, Chapter 504, Transportation Code, | |
| 11 | 11 | is amended by adding Section 504.319 to read as follows: | |
| 12 | 12 | Sec. 504.319. DEFENSE SUPERIOR SERVICE MEDAL RECIPIENTS. | |
| 13 | 13 | The department shall issue specialty license plates for recipients | |
| 14 | 14 | of the Defense Superior Service Medal. License plates issued under | |
| 15 | 15 | this section must include the words "Defense Superior Service | |
| 16 | 16 | Medal" at the bottom of each plate. | |
| 17 | 17 | SECTION 2. Subsection (a), Section 504.3015, | |
| 18 | 18 | Transportation Code, is amended to read as follows: | |
| 19 | 19 | (a) A person applying for a set of license plates under this | |
| 20 | 20 | subchapter shall pay the registration fee required under Chapter | |
| 21 | 21 | 502 and the applicable special plate fee required under this | |
| 22 | 22 | section, except that one set of license plates shall be issued under | |
| 23 | 23 | Section 504.308, [or] 504.315, or 504.319 without the payment of | |
| 24 | 24 | the registration fee. | |
| 25 | 25 | SECTION 3. This Act takes effect September 1, 2013. |
