| 10 | 10 | | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |

| 11 | 11 | | SECTION 1. Section 33.904, Education Code, is amended to |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | read as follows: |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | Sec. 33.904. LIAISON FOR CERTAIN CHILDREN IN |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | CONSERVATORSHIP OF STATE. (a) Each school district and |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | open-enrollment charter school shall: |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | (1) appoint at least one employee to act as a liaison |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | officer to facilitate the enrollment in or transfer to a public |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | school or open-enrollment charter school of a child in the district |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | or area served by the charter school who is in the conservatorship |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | of the state; and |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | (2) submit the liaison's name and contact information |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | to the agency in a format and under the schedule determined by the |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | commissioner. |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | (b) The agency shall provide information to the liaisons on |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | practices for facilitating the enrollment in or transfer to a |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | public school or open-enrollment charter school of children who are |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | in the conservatorship of the state. |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | Act takes effect September 1, 2013. |
