| 10 | 10 | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | |
| 11 | 11 | SECTION 1. Section 7.029, Education Code, is amended by | |
| 12 | 12 | adding Subsection (b-1) to read as follows: | |
| 13 | 13 | (b-1) To facilitate implementation of Subsection (a)(2), | |
| 14 | 14 | the agency shall, in the manner established by commissioner rule, | |
| 15 | 15 | collect data through the Public Education Information Management | |
| 16 | 16 | System (PEIMS) as to the foster care status of students. | |
| 17 | 17 | SECTION 2. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives | |
| 18 | 18 | a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as | |
| 19 | 19 | provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this | |
| 20 | 20 | Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this | |
| 21 | 21 | Act takes effect September 1, 2013. |
