SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 1005
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
recognize Robin Ramsay, who is retiring from the Smithville
Independent School District after a distinguished 30-year career
as a coach; and
WHEREAS, Robin Ramsay is a graduate of Stephen F. Austin
State University, where she was a standout basketball, softball,
and track-and-field athlete who competed on the national level in
all three sports; she became a coach with the Smithville
Independent School District 18 years ago after more than a decade
of service to other districts in the state; and
WHEREAS, She has served as the girls' coordinator and head
coach of the girls' varsity basketball team for 17 years; under
her leadership, the basketball team has reached the playoffs 17
consecutive seasons and earned a 363-213 record; she was named
All Cen-Tex Coach of the Year in 2000; she has also coached the
boys' and girls' cross-country and tennis teams in addition to
the girls' track and field, softball, and volleyball teams,
leading them to multiple playoff appearances; and
WHEREAS, She has had a profound impact on the lives of her
young athletes, many of whom continue to seek her out for advice
and guidance; and
WHEREAS, An exceptionally talented coach, she is respected
and admired by her colleagues and by the district's students, and
her presence as a coach with the Smithville Independent School
District will be greatly missed; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 83rd
Legislature, hereby commend Robin Ramsay on her outstanding
achievements as a coach with the Smithville Independent School
District and extend to her best wishes for continued success in
all her endeavors; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
her as an expression of high regard from the Texas Senate.
