SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 1019 WHEREAS, Members of the 2013 Leadership Rockwall Class are contributing to their North Texas community as civic leaders and volunteers; and WHEREAS, Leadership Rockwall provides opportunities for participants to increase their knowledge of vital public issues and enhance their abilities through effective communication, personal advocacy, and interaction; meeting regularly over the course of a year, members learn about government and local history, tour the jails and county courthouse, attend legislative days in Austin, and complete a project of benefit to the community; and WHEREAS, In conjunction with The Life House and the City of Fate, the class of 2013 raised more than $14,000 to develop an 18-hole disc golf course at Smith Family Park; destined to become a popular area attraction, the course was conceived and planned by Stephen Geiger, Nathan Taylor, Bobby Clay, Josh Sparks, Deuce Waters, Christopher Shaw, Aaron Dobson, Chris Henry, George Warner, Deanna Kuykendall, Misti Potter, Lauren Kennedy, Dana Macalik, Jennifer Spencer, Ashlei Neill, Lesa Walker, Shannon Estrada, and Julia Bryant; and WHEREAS, By fostering a more informed and involved citizenry, Leadership Rockwall is helping to create a brighter future for the Lone Star State, and the men and women of the class of 2013 are making a vital contribution to this worthwhile effort; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 83rd Legislature, hereby commend the members of the 2013 Leadership Rockwall Class for their civic engagement and extend to them sincere best wishes for continued success; and, be it further RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for them as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
