SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 1021 In Memory of Jerry Dosser WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas joins the residents of San Antonio in mourning the loss of Jerry "Coach" Dosser, who died March 26, 2013; and WHEREAS, This outstanding coach dedicated much of his life to helping student athletes; he graduated from Brackenridge High School in San Antonio in 1951, and after serving in the United States Air Force, he returned to San Antonio and graduated from Trinity University in 1959; he then began his coaching career at Rhodes Junior High School; and WHEREAS, In 1963, Coach Dosser joined the staff at Edison High School, and he became the school's head baseball coach in 1966; although he had no assistant coach and no on-campus baseball facility, he created an impressive program that produced University Interscholastic League play-off teams; and WHEREAS, Coach Dosser was admired for his exceptional skills at teaching the sport of baseball; three of his coaching successors at Edison High School had been his students; highly respected by his colleagues throughout the state, he was named to the Texas High School Baseball Coaches Association Hall of Fame; and WHEREAS, Coach Dosser was a devoted family man who gave unselfishly of his time and energy; he was beloved by many, and he will long be remembered by the students whose lives he touched and by his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 83rd Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the bereaved family of Jerry Dosser; and, be it further RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for his family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas Senate, and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in memory of Coach Dosser.
