SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 1022 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to recognize Dr. Fred Farias III, who has been named president-elect of the Texas Optometric Association; and WHEREAS, Dr. Farias is also celebrating the 25th anniversary of his entry into the practice of optometry; and WHEREAS, A graduate of The University of Texas at Austin, Dr. Farias earned his doctor of optometry degree at the Southern College of Optometry in Memphis, Tennessee; he is president of 20/20 Vision Care, Incorporated, Optometric Practice; he is also a member of the Rio Grande Valley Optometric Association and the American Optometric Association, and he is a fellow of the American Academy of Optometry; and WHEREAS, Dr. Farias has received numerous honors over the course of his career, including Young Optometrist of the Year and the William Feinbloom Low Vision Award, and he was named to the Marquis Who's Who in Science and Engineering; and WHEREAS, He was appointed to the Texas Optometry Board by Governor Rick Perry and is a member of the University of the Incarnate Word Rosenberg School of Optometry Advisory Council; he is also a founder of The University of Texas Hispanic Alumni Committee and a member of the Southern College of Optometry Alumni Council; he is truly deserving of recognition for his many achievements; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 83rd Legislature, hereby commend Dr. Fred Farias III on his contributions to his profession and extend to him congratulations on being named president-elect of the Texas Optometric Association and on celebrating 25 years in the practice of optometry at 20/20 Vision Care; and, be it further RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for him as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
