                            SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 1058
 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to pay
 tribute to Father Epifanio Rodriguez, who after many years of
 service in South Texas is returning to Spain; and
 WHEREAS, Affectionately known as Father Epi by his
 parishioners, this revered priest has long been a spiritual mentor
 for members of Saint Francis de Paula in San Diego, Texas; and
 WHEREAS, Father Epi came to the Diocese of Corpus Christi in
 1957, and he is one of only two remaining Dominican priests in the
 diocese; both are returning to Spain on July 1, 2013, and their
 departure will mark the end of an era; and
 WHEREAS, Father Epi has served the parish of Saint Francis
 de Paula with steadfast dedication; he has provided wise counsel
 to his congregants and has listened to them and comforted them
 with an open heart; and
 WHEREAS, For more than half a century, this devoted priest
 has played a vital role in the community of San Diego, and he has
 promoted good works and good relations in the parish that has
 long served as his second home; and
 WHEREAS, Upon his departure, Father Epi will be deeply
 missed by his Texas parishioners, who will never forget him and
 who wish him a safe journey home to Spain; now, therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 83rd
 Legislature, hereby commend Father Epifanio Rodriguez for his
 many years of service in South Texas and extend to him sincere
 best wishes in all his future endeavors; and, be it further
 RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared in
 honor of Father Epifanio as an expression of esteem from the
 Texas Senate.
