SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 107 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to recognize the physicians, residents, medical students, and alliance members of the Texas Medical Association, who will be visiting the State Capitol on the first Tuesday of each month during the 83rd Legislative Session; and WHEREAS, The Texas Medical Association was founded in 1853 by a group of 35 physicians dedicated to serving the people of Texas in matters of medical care, the prevention and cure of disease, and the improvement of public health; and WHEREAS, Today, the association boasts nearly 45,000 members and is the nation's largest state medical society; since 2003, its members from around the state have visited the Capitol each session, many of them wearing their white medical coats, making a visible impression as they walk the halls on their way to meet their senators and representatives; and WHEREAS, These exceptional medical professionals work with commitment and dedication to improve the effectiveness of their profession, and they are truly deserving of recognition for their outstanding efforts; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 83rd Legislature, hereby commend the members of the Texas Medical Association on their outstanding work on behalf of the people of Texas and welcome them as they visit the Texas Capitol on First Tuesdays; and, be it further RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for the association as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
