SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 1100
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
recognize Hidalgo County Sheriff Guadalupe Treviño for his
outstanding record of public service; and
WHEREAS, Sheriff Treviño began his distinguished career in
law enforcement in 1973 as an officer with the Edinburg Police
Department; he went on to serve as a senior sergeant with the
Austin Police Department before joining the Hidalgo County
Criminal District Attorney's Office, where he was a chief
criminal investigator and a task force commander; he began his
tenure as sheriff of Hidalgo County in 2005; and
WHEREAS, He holds bachelor's and master's degrees from The
University of Texas--Pan American; he has also completed
advanced professional training with the Federal Bureau of
Investigation and the Drug Enforcement Administration; and
WHEREAS, Over the course of his career, Sheriff Treviño has
served on numerous committees and task forces and has earned many
awards and commendations; he has served in leadership positions
on a number of border enforcement committees associated with the
United States Department of Homeland Security; he has also been
active in several community and civic organizations; and
WHEREAS, Sheriff Treviño has handled the unique challenges
of law enforcement duty with courage, strength, and
professionalism, and he is truly deserving of recognition for his
outstanding service on behalf of the people of Hidalgo County;
now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 83rd
Legislature, hereby commend Sheriff Guadalupe Treviño on his
many achievements in the field of law enforcement and extend to
him best wishes for continued success; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
him as an expression of high regard from the Texas Senate.
