SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 127 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to recognize Diane Irvin, who retired November 28, 2012, after 18 years of outstanding service with the Texas Juvenile Justice Department; and WHEREAS, Diane has served the state with distinction while working her entire career at the Cottrell Halfway House; for many years, she has been the first person that people see when they enter the facility, and her welcoming spirit and helpful attitude have had a significant impact on the success of the unit; and WHEREAS, Throughout her career, she has been noted for her superior skills and expertise; in addition to her work as a clerk and cashier, she mentored many young people for years and taught weekly parenting classes to young men who had fathered children; and WHEREAS, Talented and resourceful, she has handled her many responsibilities with exceptional efficiency and dedication; she drew on her talent as a musician not only to entertain at functions but to direct young men and women in dramatic and musical presentations; she received the statewide Employee Volunteer of the Year Award in 2005; and WHEREAS, An exemplary public servant, she is respected and admired by her colleagues, and her presence at the Texas Juvenile Justice Department will be greatly missed; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 83rd Legislature, hereby commend Diane Irvin on her exceptional service to the people of Texas as an employee of the Texas Juvenile Justice Department and extend to her best wishes for continued success in all her endeavors; and, be it further RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for her as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
